The Best News Of All
The Best News of All
Joseph was together with his brothers at last. Oh, joy! That was the best surprise of all. There was only one thing missing. Joseph wanted to see his father Jacob and tell him the good news.
Joseph and his brothers shared their surprise with everybody. And the news traveled fast. When it reached Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, he sent for Joseph. "Tell your brothers to go home and get all their families. And your father. And come back here to LIVE. Give them extra donkeys and food and wagons - everything they need."
Oh, joy! Now the surprise was almost complete!
Joseph told his brothers the good news. And then they all got busy. They got together extra donkeys
and food
and gifts
and wagons-
and at last-
the brothers were ready to go.
"Don't get too excited on the way!" said Joseph, as he waved good-by.
Excited!
The brothers were BURSTING with excitement all the way! They could hardly wait to see their father and make the surprise complete.
When they finally got home, dear old Jacob just stood there staring. He couldn't believe what he saw - his sons.
ALL of them.
Benjamin.
And Simeon.
All safe and sound.
With extra donkeys.
And wagons.
Just LOADED.
What could this be? And then they told him.
"Joseph is still alive, Father. And he's ruler of all Egypt!"
Jacob just stood there, stunned.
"It's true, Father. The ruler we told you about is Joseph. OUR Joseph." And they told him everything that had happened to them - all talking at once. They unloaded the donkeys and wagons and gifts. And finally Jacob had to believe the wonderful news.
"You've said enough," he cried. "I believe you. My Joseph is still alive. And I'm going to see him before I die."
And then they all began to talk about it. They talked about it while the hillside covered itself up with shadows for the night. They talked about it while the donkeys got sleepy. They talked about it far into the night. And then they dreamed about it, while God watched over them.
For they were all going back to Egypt to make the surprise complete. And Joseph was going to see the one he loved best of all - his dear old father Jacob!

THINK!
Joseph was rich and popular and famous now, but he did not forget one important thing. What was it? What did he do to honor his father? How did that make Jacob feel?
A VERSE TO LEARN
